SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Monday extended greetings to the people on the occasion of Baisakhi, underscoring the festival’s cultural, spiritual, and social significance.
In his message, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said Baisakhi marks the harvest season and symbolizes prosperity, hope, and new beginnings. He highlighted that the festival reflects Jammu and Kashmir’s cultural diversity and communal harmony, where people of different faiths celebrate traditions with mutual respect.
He said such occasions strengthen brotherhood and reinforce the values of unity and inclusiveness in society, while also extending good wishes for peace, happiness, and prosperity. He also prayed for the well-being of the farming community.
Meanwhile, Mehbooba Mufti described Baisakhi as a celebration of harvest, hope, and communal harmony. She said the festival reflects the shared cultural heritage and pluralistic traditions of Jammu and Kashmir.
She extended greetings to the Sikh community in particular and wished peace, prosperity, and happiness for all. She also called for strengthening bonds of unity and mutual respect and hoped the spirit of Baisakhi inspires renewed optimism and collective resilience.
