Department of Posts, J&K is organizing Srinagar Post Office Fest-2013 from May 23, 2013 to May 27, 2013 in association with Srinagar Municipal Corporation. The Festival will be inaugurated by Chief Minister, J&K Omar Abdullah.
As per a statement John Samuel, Chief Postmaster General J&K and Dr GN Qasba, Commission SMC Srinagar during a joint press conference held at GPO Complex has announced that many programmes will be organized during the festival like the Philately Exhibition, Letter Writing Competition, Stamp Designing Competition, debate and quiz programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Samuel has said that the motive of this Post Office Fest is to connect the people of Srinagar with Post Office. He added that Department of Posts is also taking efforts to develop Srinagar city in many ways. He further added that students will be participating in letter writing competition and stamp design competition and many of them will be participating in quiz programmes.
Samuel has also said that Srinagar walk will be held on May 26, 2013 in which people from all walks of life will be participating in a large level. During the Press Conference, Dr Qasba informed that SMC Srinagar is taking various steps to keep the Srinagar city clean especially from use of polythene. He has appreciated the efforts taken by Chief Postmaster General by reviving the Postal Services and promoting the various tourist places by issuing special covers.
