SRINAGAR: The Government Medical College (GMC) Doda has constituted a committee to inquire into a written complaint alleging that a doctor asked a student to remove her abaya, officials said on Wednesday.
The development came after a protest was held at the medical college, where students and others raised objections over the alleged incident and sought an inquiry into the matter.
During the protest, a participant questioned the objection to the attire, saying, “Why do they have a problem with our burqa? It is our identity and pride?”
The Deputy Superintendent of GMC Doda confirmed that a committee had been constituted after the administration received a written complaint. He said the matter would be examined by the committee.
The committee is expected to look into the circumstances surrounding the complaint and submit its findings to the competent authorities.
The allegations have led to concerns among students and protesters, who have called for the matter to be addressed through a fair and appropriate inquiry. (KNT)
