Accusing Congress of being responsible for Guru’s hanging opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Thursday stated that Congress was in hurry to hang Afzal.

Talking to media outside the assembly secretariat, PDP President Mehbooba Mufti accused that congress played foul and hanged Guru who was on number 28 in the queue. “We demanded that Guru’s mortal remains must be given to his family for the proper burial and also adopted a resolution in this regard but the home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde threw the same in the dust bin.”

She stated further that the people of valley protested for the moral remains of Guru for two months on the streets and that it was Congress that was in power in New Delhi when Guru was hanged. “It is beyond logic that now Congress is expressing grief over Guru’s hanging and asking for his mortal remains- where Congress was when Guru was mercilessly hanged in Tihar?”

PDP president also stated that when the death sentence of Rajiv Gandhi’s assassins was commuted into the life imprisonment, how come Guru was picked from the queue and hanged. “Are we the citizens of different India where Justice cannot be delivered? Both Congress and BJP are playing the cheap politics over Guru’s hanging and salt is being rubbed over the wounds of Kashmiris.”
