SRINAGAR: In its ongoing drive against the drug menace, police have arrested a drug peddler in Sopore and recovered contraband from his possession.
A police spokesperson in a statement said, “A police team led by Incharge Police Post Watergam, under the supervision of SDPO Rafiabad and SHO Police Station Dangiwacha, intercepted a suspicious person during patrolling at Watergam. A search led to the recovery of 696 grams of charas powder-like substance and 34 grams of charas. The accused, identified as Mohammad Jamal Gojree, son of Ghulam Ahmad Gojree, a resident of Watergam Rafiabad, was arrested.”
A case under FIR No. 29/2025 has been registered at Police Station Dangiwacha under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is underway.
Police urge the public to report drug peddling or any criminal activity by contacting the nearest police establishment or dialing 112.
