SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday arrested four persons and seized four vehicles for illegal mineral extraction and transportation in Pulwama. Additionally, 18 vehicles were seized in Ganderbal over the past two weeks, police said.
“In Pulwama, a team led by SHO Rajpora arrested four individuals and confiscated one tipper and three dumpers used for illegal extraction. The accused have been identified as Bashir Ahmad Mir of Pampore Kadalbal, Shabir Ahmad Rather of Chandhara, Aijaz Ahmad Ganie of Saimoora, and Ab Gani Wani of Mandikphal Pampore. FIRs No. 26/2025 and 27/2025 have been registered at Rajpora Police Station, and further investigation is underway,” a police spokesperson in a statement said.
Meanwhile, in Ganderbal, 18 vehicles engaged in illegal excavation were seized across multiple police station jurisdictions, including Ganderbal, Kheerbawani, Kangan, Lar, Safapora, and Police Post Nagbal. The police, in coordination with the Geology and Mining Department, are actively working to curb illegal mining and ensure legal action against violators.
