Corruption, Not A New Phenomenon In Congress Party: Kamal

KL Report

Srinagar

Terming the corrupt Ministers as a black spot on the fair name of society, National Conference senior leader Dr Shiekh Mustafa Kamal Sunday demanded a probe into the allegations leveled against Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand by one of his Public Relations Officers.

“It is a serious matter and the government should thoroughly look into the matter. If the PRO of Tara Chand is uttering truth then Deputy Chief Minister is liable for punishment,” Kamal told CNS adding that corruption is not new in Congress party.

Kamal said that in past the two Ministers of the Congress party had already relished the food of police lockup and now it is not surprising if anyone has leveled allegations against the Congress leader this time.

“There is Vigilance Organization, State Accountability Commission and other anti-graft bodies and they must take cognizance of it whether the allegations leveled by PRO are correct or not. No one is above the law and the matter needs to be probed,” Kamal told CNS adding that Tara Chand is a small fish even former Prime Minister Narsimha Rao found himself helpless before the law of land.

He said that corruption is a big issue before the government and all the corrupt officials and Ministers must be sacked without any delay. “No mercy should be shown to the tainted officials and Ministers. If any Congress Minister does wrong, finger is raised on Coalition government and National Conference is part of it.

Kamal said that BSF version on Gool killings should not be taken as the verdict of the government. “Our eyes are on Union Home Minister who has assured the State government that the probe would be thorough and fair and the guilty would be punished. Inquiry committee would not rely only BSF version but it has to take the locals, police and civilians into account as well,” he said.

While replying to a question, Kamal said that there is no comparison between Hurriyat and NC. “NC is a force to reckon with while Hurriyat has no base,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chief Spokesperson of Bhartiya Janta Party for the State, Dr Jatindar Singh told CNS that there should be a fair inquiry into the matter. “We don’t want to jump into the conclusions. Let there be a fair probe into the allegations leveled against Tara Chand and only after that the party would express its opinion,” he said.

Pertinently, the additional PRO of Deputy Chief Minister Kewal Kumar alleged that Tara Chand is involved in corruption and sexual exploitation of helpless girls and women.
