SRINAGAR: A 70-year old female from Budgam who had tested positive for COVID19 died at Chest Disease hospital on Thursday, taking the toll of viral illness in J&K to 19.

Dr Salim Khan nodal officer COVID-19 at GMC Srinagar said a 70-year-old COVID-19 positive female from Parisabad, Budgam died at CD hospital.

Dr Khan said that she was initially admitted in SMHS Hospital on  May 15, tested positive for COVID and shifted to CD Hospital Srinagar on May 18 as a case of COPD with restrictive lung disease and COVID pneumonia.

He said that she died around noon on May 21 in ICU of CD hospital after sudden cardiac arrest.

With his death, the number of casualties due to the novel Coronavirus has reached 19 in J&K. Earlier, 18 patients have died due to COVID-19 including 16 from Kashmir and two from Jammu.
