SRINAGAR: CPI(M) Secretary Ghulam Nabi Malik has expressed deep concern over the massive damage caused to households and orchards due to heavy windstorms and incessant rains across Jammu and Kashmir since Saturday.

He said that the administration must direct the Revenue authorities to promptly assess the losses so that compensation and relief can be provided to the affected individuals in a timely manner.

He also demanded relief for those who died in the Chassana area of Reasi district when their house collapsed.

Furthermore, he demanded the immediate restoration of the National Highway as hundreds of passengers are stranded in Jammu, intending to reach Kashmir.
