SRINAGAR: Lead District Manager Bashir Ahmad Sheikh informed the District Level Review Committee (DLRC) that Baramulla surpassed its overall credit disbursement target for the financial year 2024–25, achieving Rs 4,579.43 crore against a set goal of Rs 4,272.53 crore marking 107 per cent completion. However, while only 68 per cent of the priority sector target was met (Rs 2,420.87 crore against Rs 3,567.27 crore), the non-priority sector witnessed a striking overachievement of 306 per cent, with Rs 2,158.56 crore disbursed against the Rs 705.26 crore target.
The figures were shared during a DLRC meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa (IAS), held at Dak Bungalow Baramulla to review the quarterly performance ending March 2025. The meeting was attended by representatives from RBI, NABARD, J&K Bank, and other financial and line departments.
DC Sherpa conducted a comprehensive performance review of all banks and concerned departments, emphasising the need for full saturation under the National Mission for Financial Inclusion. He directed banks to expedite the disposal of pending loan cases under major schemes including PMEGP, MUMKIN, PM Vishwakarma, Mission Youth, and Tejaswini.
Underscoring the importance of grassroots financial literacy, the DC urged all banks and financial institutions to organise awareness and outreach programmes in coordination with relevant departments. He stressed involving ASHA and Anganwadi workers, along with SHG members under NRLM, to maximise the impact of financial education.
To strengthen implementation of social security and credit schemes, Sherpa called for focused efforts towards achieving saturation under Kisan Credit Card (KCC), PM Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), PM Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Atal Pension Yojana (APY), MUDRA loans, and Aadhaar seeding.
Further, he instructed the Lead District Manager to conduct a sensitisation seminar for all bankers on the operational guidelines of flagship government schemes to ensure timely loan disbursements.
In closing, the DC urged all departments to conduct special public awareness drives to boost enrolment and facilitate last-mile delivery of welfare benefits.
