Locals of Tantray Pora Tangmarg Thursday held a protest demonstration in Srinagar against some “criminals” for “illegally occupying” a piece of land which protestors claim is a Kach Charai.
The villagers claim that when police and Tehsil officer visited the spot, the land grabbers attacked and injured the SHO and other officials. “Since then they have gone into hiding,” claimed a protestor.
The villagers accused a local “media personnel” of misreporting the facts. “A local reporter from a separate village who is relative of the criminals has concocted a baseless story,” Gh Nabi, a protestor alleged. “He is also an employee of Northern Railways.”
The protestors asked the Divisional Commissioner to take action against the culprits for grabbing the land.
