Chief Secretary, B B. Vyas on Tuesday reviewed the progress of Aadhar enrolment in J&K in a meeting held at Civil Secretariat, Jammu.

The spokesman said during the last six months 11, 04,786 (Eleven lac) Aadhar enrolment has been done in J&K under the aegis of the Information Technology department.

Around 350 machines had been deployed at various locations in all the Districts of the State. The Department had contracted the work to the Electronic Corporation of India Ltd. (a public sector undertaking of the Government of India).

During the meeting, it was informed that the Aadhar enrolment which is being done on a continuous basis has reached 1.09 Crores and the Aadhar Cards of 97 lac residents have been generated so far.

the Spokesman said with the shifting of Aadhar regime from Registrar General of India to the State Government under the UIDAI, the Aadhar enrolment was affected

In order to universalize the Aadhar in J&K, the UIDAI has also appointed Project Director, SSA, and Mission Director ICDS as Registrars for Aadhar enrolment in the Schools and Aanganwadi centres respectively.
