SRINAGAR: The Central University of Kashmir (CUK) has clarified that delays in holding the Convocation will not affect the entitlement of eligible first-rank holders to Gold Medals prescribed under the university’s rules.
The clarification was issued through a circular by the university’s Examinations and Evaluation Wing (EEW) on September 1, 2026, stating that the First Rank Holder of a particular programme and batch will be entitled to the corresponding Gold Medal wherever provided under the applicable rules and regulations.
The university said Gold Medals and certificates are presented to eligible awardees during Convocation, but unavoidable delays in holding the event could result in a considerable gap between the declaration of final results and the actual presentation of the awards.
It said such a delay would not prejudice eligible students or deprive them of the benefits and recognition attached to their first-rank status.
The circular further clarified that a duly issued First Rank Certificate from the university or competent authority would be treated as the authentic basis for establishing a candidate’s first-rank status, subject to applicable university rules and verification from official records.
A candidate already holding a valid First Rank Certificate for a particular programme and batch will be considered eligible for the corresponding Gold Medal wherever the award is prescribed under the applicable rules, the university said.
It added that the Convocation not having been held, or being delayed, would not by itself affect a first-rank holder’s entitlement to the Gold Medal or associated recognition.
The circular was issued with the approval of the competent authority and signed by the Controller of Examinations, Central University of Kashmir.
