SRINAGAR

Following torching of ISIS flag bearing religious scripture by VHP activists in Rajouri a few days ago, curfew was imposed in the town today to prevent fanning of communal tension.

Some 15 were arrested for defying the curfew, making authorities to state that the situation is tense but under control.

Muslims in Rajouri had threatened agitation if authorities fail to arrest the accused activists.

In view of tension, deputy chief minister Nirmal Singh has appealed to maintain communal tension, but ruled out arrest of VHP activists—who have clarified that it had no intention to hurt the sentiments of Muslims.
