SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court on Friday stayed a single bench judgment in terms of which the ongoing recruitment process being conducted by the J&K Service Selection Board for Junior Engineer and Sub-Inspector posts in Jal Shakti and Home departments was quashed on Thursday, reported LiveLaw.in.

Hearing an urgent appeal filed by the J&K SSB, the division bench of Justice Sindhu Sharma and Justice Vinod Chatterji Kaul said the recruitment agency shall proceed with the selection process. However, the court restrained the government body from declaring the results till further orders.

“Counter, within a period of four weeks. Rejoinder, if any, within one week thereafter. Impugned judgment stands stayed,” said the court according to LiveLaw.in.

Advocate General D C Raina, appearing for JKSSB, earlier contended that the writ petition has been decided by the single bench in contravention to Rule 14 and 15 of the writ proceeding rules.

Admitting the appeal, the court listed it for hearing on February 02, 2023.

Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal on Friday had quashed the ongoing recruitment process for Junior Engineer-civil (Jal Shakti Department) and Sub Inspector (Home Department) and directed the UT Government to constitute a high level Committee headed by not less than a retired High Court Judge to enquire into the conduct of Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board.
