In a tragic head-on collision between a Maruti car and an over-speeding motorcycle, three persons including two teenage boys and a female pilgrim coming from Katra were injured when the accident took place near Hayat Hotel at Malipath Kishtwar on Tuesday evening.

As per the details available with Kashmir Life, a vehicle bearing registration JK02AG-3060 was on way from Katra to Padder for Machail Matta pilgrimage and while reaching near Hayat Hotel Malipath, a motorcycle coming in opposite direction collided with it as a result of which three persons were injured.

The injured persons were identified as 15 year old Yasir Rashid, son of Abdul Rashid Hajam, resident of Malipath; 12 year old Shafqat Rasool Waza, son of Javed Rasool Waza, also resident of Malipath Kishtwar and 29 year old Manta Sharma, wife of Pawan Sharma, resident of Katra.

As soon as the accident took place, in charge SHO Police Station Kishtwar Anchal Singh rushed to the spot and shifted the injured persons to district Hospital Kishtwar where the condition of all the three injured persons is said to be stable.

As per Pawan Sharma, the husband of the injured Mamta Sharma who was travelling to Padder for Machail Yatra along with his mother, wife and four year old son told the Kashmir Life that after seeing two motorcyclist borne persons, who were engaged in “over taking each other”, were coming towards him, he stopped his vehicle on a road side.

“Among the two bikers, one managed to keep his vehicle away while the other motorcyclist hit his vehicle as a result of which his wife was injured while me, my mother and a child had a miraculous escape,” he said.

Senior Superintendent of Police Kishtwar Sandeep Kumar Wazir, Additional SP Kishtwar Abdul Qayoom also rushed to the hospital and inquired about the condition of the injured persons.

Police have registered the case and started its investigation.
