Major Opposition parties in India have sent a notice to the right wing Bharatiya Janata Party led Government of India questioning the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over alarming Kashmir situation.

These Opposition parties have demanded a discussion on present Kashmir crisis and have urged upon the Government to stop targeting Kashmiri civilians.

Reliable sources informed Kashmir based news agency CNS that Indian National Congress, Janata Dal (United) Communist Party of India (Marxist), Samajwadi Party and Communist Party of India have sent a notice to the Government of India in Parliament questioning the Kashmir policy pursued by the Modi led Government.

Sources added that these opposition parties have asked Government of India to stop killing innocent people in Kashmir and also put a blanket ban on the use of pellet guns.

“We are anguished over the present Kashmir crisis and more worried the way you (Government of India) have been handling it. Killing innocent people, maiming, threatening and blinding them is not going to stop protesters from protesting against your wrong-doings in Kashmir. The policy, your government has been pursuing is totally anti-Kashmir and it will have serious ramifications,” the reads the notice.

Confirming the development, senior legislator and CPI (m) leader Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami said that Government of India after receiving the notice has accepted to debate Kashmir crisis on Monday in the Parliament.

“We will force Prime Minister Narendra Modi to speak on the grave issue in the Parliament,” he said and added that keeping the sensitivity of the Kashmir situation into account, PM has no option but to answer to the people why it has been using brute force on the protesters in Kashmir.
