Hundreds of People in tehsil Pahloo Kulgam Tuesday late night staged a peaceful sit-in at Bus adda Pahloo against the detention of two youth namely Zameer Ahmad Bhat and Sharafat Rehman who have been detained by Devsar Police on 23rd July.

Reports said, “the people were protesting peacefully when CRPF, SOG and RR from nearby Devsar camp entered Pahloo village and started indiscriminate firing and heavy teargas shelling.”

The clashes erupted and lasted for 2 hours till 1:00 AM.

“Army SOG, CRPF and JKP barged into houses and beat the family members. They damaged property by smashing glasses and window panes,” locals told Kashmir Life.

The locals added, “they barged into one house and got hold of another youth and dragged him along to the bus stand.”

Earlier people went to police station and demanded release of youth, but “police did not agree to their demands”.

In these clashes around 4 people received injuries. “The harsh behaviour of police, SOG, Indian army was dreadful. They abused women even.”

Meanwhile, residents of Kyonusa village staged a protest demonstration on Sopore-Bandipora highway on Wednesday against the alleged army excesses.

The protestors blocked the road and demanded action against army “for barging into houses and beating the civilians.”

They alleged that army of Sangri-Top Watlab barged into homes and beat the civilians.
