Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani on Thursday once again named a government official asking him “not to isolate himself from freedom movement”.

In a statement issued early this evening, Geelani while reacting to the reports that one secretary Technical Board Mehmood Ahmad Khan is “forcing” Polytechnic students to attend the classes and appear in the examination.

The APHC-g chairperson Geelani asked “this bureaucrat” that its “pity on your part as you are hailing from the same locality (Tral), how can you betray and compromise on the sacrifices of your own people”.

It is second time that Geelani named any government official during current mass movement. Last time, he targeted a JKP cop calling him “butcher and criminal”.

Geelani, Hurriyat Conference (g) statement said, advised “Khan not to isolate himself from the people on the streets as they are for your Azadi as well”.

Regarding the widespread arrest spree throughout the state, Geelani said that more than 70 people mostly from South Kashmir have been slapped with PSA.

“Such undemocratic and uncivilized tactics have been used by India and state governments for last so many decades; they could not deter us from our goal in the past and can’t do so in future as well,” he added.
