Intense clashes and protests erupted in various areas of North Kashmir’s Sopore district on Friday after the congregational prayers.
Correspondent reports from area said that scores of youths took to streets after Friday prayers at Chankhan, Jamia Qadeem, Nowpora area of the Sopore town where they staged pro-freedom and anti-India protests. But government forces resorted to teargas shelling and pellet firing to disperse the protesters.
An eyewitness told Kashmir Life, “A dozen of protesters were injured who were taken to SDH Sopore and two of them were referred to Srinagar for advanced treatment.”
