The angry populace of Larkipora in South Kashmir’s Islamabad have burnt down the house of a local army man on Tuesday afternoon.
One youth was shot dead while ten others were injured this morning when 19 RR based in Larkipora opened fire on unarmed protestors.
Correspondent reports said that one Sajad Ahmad Itoo, s/o Ghulam Itoo r/o Larkipora works with army as a soldier.
“People are angry with the army men and in rage the residents set ablaze the double storey house of Khanday,” reports said. Sajad is posted in Dialgam.
The army men based in Larkipora had arrested at least seven youths who were ruthlessly beaten up.
Sources said that the elders of Larkipora met top army officials and got them released.
One of the seven youths told Kashmir Life that they were stripped and beaten. “They tore our clothes before beating us ruthlessly,” one of the injured said whose voice was barely heard.
The youths are being treated in Islamabad hospital.
Meanwhile, reports coming from North Kashmir’s Palhallan said that hundreds of women have assembled in Eidgah where they are holding pro-freedom protests. “Several speakers addressed them,” a local said. Earlier, trade held protests in the area following the Hurriyat protest calendar.
Kashmir is witnessing a renewed civil uprising since July 09, 2016. At least 64 civilians have been killed while over 7000 persons have been injured in forces action.
