In a first, the people of Palhallan have sent a mini-truck loaded with vegetables to some Srinagar areas on late Tuesday night.

Sources said that a peer group in Palhallan received a call from an area in Srinagar about the need of vegetables.

“The group of friends, sat together, made a plan and started collecting vegetables on Tuesday,” local sources said, “in the evening a lorry from Srinagar reached which returned fully loaded with vegetables of all kinds.”

The sources said that vegetables included potatoes, Brinjal, beans, collards, tomatoes, capsicum, cucumber and other item.

The “need” for vegetables in Srinagar rose as Kashmir is witnessing complete shutdown while government has imposed curfew across Valley for last 46 days.

“Some of our youth have friends in Palhallan who contacted them and a huge quantity of vegetables was ready when we reached there last evening,” one of the persons who brought vegetables from Palhallan said.

He said that they distribute the vegetables under a well-established Bait-ul-Maal. “We take care of all,” he said, “we ensure no one goes to bed empty belly.”

Notably, the resistance leadership has asked people to create and strengthen the Bait-ul-Maals in their areas.

Interestingly, the protest calendar issued by the unified resistance leadership has asked “resistance”/Masjid committees in all villages and localities to visit each and every household and prepare a list of the needy on August 24, 2016 (Wednesday). They have been asked to also visit the families of “martyrs” and injured, and prepare a detailed list of the family and their needs and make arrangements for their support.
