Sarthal Kishtwar HouseA three-storey house which belongs to Farooq Ahmed Lone, son of Wali Mohammad Lone, resident of remote Ladsa in Sarthal area of Kishtwar district gutted in a blaze on Sunday afternoon.

As per the details available with Kashmir Life, the fire broke out in the upper storey of the building at around 12:45 PM and the whole building was reduced to rubble before anything could do be done.

The local officials informed that all the family members were in Kishtwar and no one was present in the house when the incident took place. After hearing about the incident, the family members also rushed to the village.

The eye witnesses informed Kashmir Life that some people living adjacent to the ill-fated house noticed the flames coming out of the building who later raised the alarm.

Soon, large number of villagers assembled at the spot and started rescue operation to control the flames from spreading to adjacent houses and a Masjid situated in densely populated locality of the village.

The police from nearby police post also rushed to the spot along with Patwar Halqa Karool, Ab Majid Kichloo, to take stock of the rescue and relief operation, but due to non-availability of fire tender service station, fire brigade reached the spot after damages had been done.

The fire brigade had to cover distance of 45 KM from Kishtwar to reach the spot while whole of the building collapsed like placards.

It was all due to efforts of the local villagers and police, the adjoining homes and the Masjid was saved after two-hour long hectic operation.

The eyewitness also informed that LPG Cylinder blast also took place inside the building which also caused major damages to the building.

As per initial reports, the “cause of the fire is said to be electricity short circuit” while police have registered a case and started its investigation.
