Hundreds of people came out on roads in Ajas, Kaloosa, Potushai and other areas of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Local sources and reports said that hundreds of people including men, women and children came out on roads in Ajas area of the district and held peaceful demonstration.

The people raised pro-freedom, anti-India and anti-army slogans.

Notably, personnel of Rashtriya Rifles had entered Ajas and adjoining Soodnoor areas thrashing and injuring locals and damaging private property worth lakhs of rupees.

“It was a peaceful protest demonstration today,” a participant said, “the people condemned the actions of army.

The area is observing complete shutdown and traffic is off the roads.

Meanwhile, reports coming from main Bandipora town said that youths held pro-freedom demonstrations in main town this morning.

“There was no stone pelting, it was peaceful,” local sources said, “it is now calm here as the area is completely shut.”

Reports coming from Kaloosa and Potushai areas said that youths came out on streets amid pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.

“There was intense shelling in the twin areas,” reports said.

Situation was tense while this report was being filed.
