A day ahead All Party Delegation’s (APD) visit to Kashmir, one more youth has been killed in South Kashmir on Saturday.
Reports reaching here from Islamabad district said that clashes were going on Vessu area on Khanabal-Qazigund road.
“Police and CRPF men fired tear gas shells and pellets to disperse the demonstrators,” an eye witness said.
“One youth was hit by pellets/tear gas shell and he fell down and CRPF men were around 40 feet away from the spot,” an eye witness said.
The eye witnesses identified the youth as Basit Ahmad Ahanger, s/o Gh Mohi ud Din Ahanger, r/o Vessu, opposite CRPF camp, Islamabad. He was 17-years-old and a class eleventh student.
Basit fell down in a Nallah. Whether he was pushed into the Nallah or not is being confirmed, however, some reports are coming that CRPF men came running “and lifted the youth and threw him in the Nallah”.
The locals said that Nallah has concrete banks.
“We brought Basit out from the Nallah and rushed him to PHC Vessu before he was referred to Islamabad hospital,” the eye witness said.
The eye witness added that at least half-a-dozen civilians were injured in the clashes.
A doctor in Islamabad hospital told Kashmir Life, “Basit died due to a deep head wound.”
“He had multiple pellet injuries in both of his legs as well.”
The body has been brought back to Vessu, Basit’s native village, and intense protests erupted in the area.
