#Day64: Second Killing Since Morning, Youth Shot Dead In Islamabad

SRINAGAR

Since Saturday morning second youth was shot dead by CRPF and police men, this time in Botengo area of south Kashmir’s Islamabad district.

Reports said that a large posse of forces raided Botengo area of the district this morning. “Forces had come to make arrests,” a local source said, “but people resisted and clashes erupted.”

The locals said that forces fried pellets and tear gas shells that left over two dozen youth injured.

“One youth was brought here who succumbed to his injuries,” a doctor from district hospital Islamabad told Kashmir Life over phone. “He was hit by pellets in his chest and abdomen.”

The youth was identified as Yawar Ahmad Dar s/o Mushtaq Ahmad Dar. He is 23-years-old. He worked with a private automobile company.

The death toll since July 09, 2016, has reached 80. Kashmir is witnessing mass civil protests after the killing of popular militant commander Burhan Wani.

A local from Botengo said that protests and clashes were going on in the village till 9 pm last night.

“Youth had blocked all entry points into the village last night,” the local said.

“Police came this morning along with a JCB and cleared the roads and made arrests,” he said. “But people came out of their homes and clashes erupted and forces fired pellets and tear gas canisters.”

The local informed that the slain youth was rushed to Islamabad hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, massive pro-freedom protests erupted in Botengoo and adjoining areas.
