In a major early dawn attack, at least four suspected militants have been shot dead in North Kashmir’s Uri town.
An army brigade stationed near Line of Control (LoC) in Baramulla district was attacked by the suspected militant around 5 AM on Sunday in which at least nine army men were killed.
Reports said that 18 other army men were injured of whom fourteen were airlifted to Army’s Srinagar hospital in Badambagh. Many of them are stated to be critical.
Army airdropped its special commandos to rescue the brigade and the army men. Four attackers were shot dead, latest reports added.
Kashmir Life tried many a times to get Srinagar based defence spokesperson to confirm the casualties but in vain.
However, cops in know-how of the situation said that search operation has been launched apparently meaning that the exchange of gun fire has stopped.
A top cop earlier said that family of a Brigadier rank army officer was missing post militant attack.
The total number of casualties has reached thirteen in the attack which continues even after six hours.
