Strongly condemning the firing of pellets on a mentally retarded man of Safakadal and killing of a teenager of Harwan, Congress on Sunday expressed serious anguish over the incidents and demanded immediate probe into the killing of teenager Nasir, who died due to pellet injuries that were found visible on his body.

Congress also blamed the forces for seriously injuring a mentally retarded person and termed it as an attack on the humanity, a statement issued this afternoon said.

JKPCC Spokesperson while terming the innocent killings and injuries to thousands “as the cause behind” the extremely volatile situation in the valley, asked the government to come clean on such type of gruesome incidents and demanded that personnel involved be brought to book and punished as per law of the land.

Stating that PDP led Government is still not waking up to the incidents of killings and injuries to innocent people, the spokesperson lashed out at the State Government for closing its eyes to the unabated killings and behaving as silent spectators to these shameful incidents.

Mentioning that the situation is beyond the control of the state government, the spokesperson said, “the Union Government especially the Home Ministry is directly handling the Kashmir Unrest.”

Congress urged upon the Union Government to take proactive steps to bring back normalcy, besides ensuring that no civilian is killed or injured.
