“Courageously” highlighting the Kashmir issue, Pakistan Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharief has “proved” to be a friend and well-wisher of Kashmir, said All Parties Hurriyat Conference chief Syed Ali Geelani.

He said that although United Nations “has not” lived to the expectations of the “oppressed and suppressed” nation, for which this forum came into existence, “but reminding UN and its member countries of this long standing and almost forgot issue of Kashmir, Mr. Nawaz Sharief has once again reiterated Pakistan’s stand that unless the core issue of Kashmir is resolved as per its historical perspective and according to the wishes of Kashmir, dance of death and destruction will have no end”.

The Hurriyat Conference chief seconded the demand of Pakistani premier that Jammu & Kashmir state be demilitarized as this is the region where more than one million armed forces’ presence makes it the highly militarized zone in the world, “leading to war crimes on a large scale”.

“India is using women as their war weapon and even presently is involved in rape and molestation of womenfolk,” Geelani said.

He said that list of crimes “committed by the Indian occupational forces” is very long and it lengthened with each passing day.

“Killings, rapes, molestations, ransacking of buildings, arrests, humiliations and harassments are the common and much used tools, of world’s largest ‘democracy’ by which they try to muzzle our just voice,” he added.

Commenting on China’s support, Geelani said that it is very encouraging and timely and “we hope both will cooperate with each other and will practically work to end the miseries of the inhabitants of this unfortunate region”.

While hailing the decision of Turkey to send a fact finding mission to Kashmir, Geelani said that Turkey is always taking “bold” steps whenever needed anywhere by the Muslim Ummah.

He thanked Turkish government for their “sincere and practical” measures to help their brethren out of the political turbulence, “as the big powers are supporting India, only because of their economic interests”.

“Their regional and global economic greed has been tarnished and bruised their own ethos when they offer a red carpet welcome to a killer whom they had refused even the visa just a few years back,” the ailing Hurriyat Conference chief said.
