Pakistan premier Mian Nawaz Sharif speaks in United Nations during 71st session of General Assembly on Sep 21, 2016.

All Parties Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Thursday expressed gratitude and thankfulness to  Pakistan and its Government headed by  Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif for once again “pleading the just political cause of the people of J&K” in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) before the world body, while stressing  upon the world body to fulfil its commitments made to the people of J&K through its security council resolutions, pending implementation for the past 70 years.

“The suggestions put forth by PM Sharif before the international body for resolving the Kashmir dispute have been the demands of the conglomerate also for long time as they pave the way for a lasting solution and permanent peace in the region,” a statement issued by APHC-m said this evening.

“Mr. Sharif very emphatically highlighted the on-going unrelenting and unprecedented oppression and violence being perpetuated upon the people of Kashmir by the Indian state and presented a detailed dossier of the grave human rights violations being committed across the state to the UN Secretary General Mr. Ban Ki Moon,” spokesperson of the Hurriyat Conference said.

“The people and Government of Pakistan including prime minister Nawaz Sharif have all along for past 70 years stood like a rock by the people of Kashmir in their just and principled struggle for Self Determination and have provided all kinds of political, diplomatic and moral support, sometimes even at their own peril, which the people of Kashmir fully realise and deeply appreciate,” the spokesperson said.

“The silence of the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon in his address over the on-going killings and human rights violations in Kashmir was unfortunate, despite the UN being the biggest world body and having passed 18 resolutions in its Security Council, which it is duty bound and morally responsible to implement,” the spokesperson added.

Meanwhile, the APHC spokesperson said despite continuous curfew, restrictions and curbs, people had staged massive protest demonstrations and marches in Shehr-e-Khaas, Basant Bagh, Batamaloo and Harwan areas of Srinagar which the forces had dealt with force injuring dozens of civilian youth, women and children and condemned the nocturnal raids on the residences of the people arresting more than 3000 youth, slapping the infamous Public Safety Act on more than 200 people and shifting them to jails outside Kashmir.

“Despite two and a half months of curfew, restrictions and curbs people in Kashmir, Chenab, Pir Panjal, Drass and Kargil were carrying peaceful protest demonstrations and paid glowing tributes to Kashmiri people in general and youth in particular for carrying forward the on-going resistance movement,” the spokesperson said.
