Incarcerated Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chief Muhammad Yasin Malik was shifted to Srinagar Central Jail from JIC Humhama on Sunday.
Malik is ailing from a long time and was kept in solitary confinement for a long time and “because of this torturous confinement his health deteriorated considerably”, JKLF said in a statement issued this evening.
Notably, top resistance leadership has been jailed while hundreds of other Hurriyat Conference activists have been arrested and lodged in various police stations and jails.
Syed Ali Geelani has been under going house detention since 2010 and he has been allowed only to move out of his home whenever he goes for medical check-up either in Srinagar or Delhi hospitals.
On July 08, 2016 when Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani was killed, the pro-freedom leadership was put under house arrest or were lodged in police stations.
JKLF condemned the arrest of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Muhammad Umar Farooq, Aasiya Andrabi, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Bilal Ahmad Siddiqui, Muhammad Altaf Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Zafar Akbar Bhat, Dr G M Hubbi, Hakeem Abdul Rashid and Advocate Muhammad Shafi Reshi and many others who are either languishing in jails or detained at their residences by occupational forces.
