Thirty six hours after the “encounter” commenced, army on Tuesday evening said that the “operation is still on” at J&K EDI Sempora, Pampore but did not give any further detail.
Forces personnel including that of J&K Police, CRPF and Rashtriya Rifles rushed to EDI headquarter at Sempora on Monday morning around 6 AM after fire was seen emanating from top floor of EDI Hostel building.
The J&K police on Monday evening said, “an encounter started at EDI Building, Pampore under the jurisdiction of Police Station Pampore between the militants and security forces. Encounter is still going on.”
The forces used rockets, IEDs and other ammunition to evacuate the suspected militants believed to have taken refuge inside the sprawling seven-storey EDI hostel.
“Operation is still going on,” Srinagar based defence spokesperson, Rajesh Kalia told Kashmir Life around 5:30 PM today.
The Defence spokesperson did not divulge any further detail. “Once the operation is over, I will share all the details,” Kalia added.
