In tense clashes erupted in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday after forces blocked a pro-freedom march and rally.

Reports and local sources said that hundreds of police and CRPF men were deployed in the area from early this morning.

The men in uniform had sealed all the roads leading Aloosa and people from Potushahi, Ashtangoo, Watpora and Kaloosa were expected to participate in the rally.

The call for the freedom rally was given by resistance leadership in their latest protest calendar.

The forces had established check points and erected barricades to thwart the mass movement of people.

Reports said that as people from adjoining villages tried to march towards Aloosa, forces interrupted them resulting in clashes. Meanwhile reports of protests and clashes between forces and protestors also reached from Ashtangoo village.

Reports from Kaloosa area said that heavy deployment of forces has been made in view of the situation.
