J&K Police on Wednesday afternoon said that they recovered two bodies from the encounter site in J&K EDI at Sempora, Pampore.

The “encounter” started on Monday morning around 6 AM when suspected militants reportedly took refuge inside the hostel building of the EDI.

“We have recovered two bodies,” a police official told Kashmir Life, “search is on and the identity of the bodies is being ascertained.”

It is second such gun battle inside the premises of the EDI in last eight months.

The sprawling seven-storey-seventy-room hostel building of the EDI has been completely destroyed after forces used mortar shells, rockets and grenades to evacuate the suspected militants.

Eye witnesses present on the spot said that the counter-intersurgent forces are scanning the building. By the time this report was being filed, the men in uniform had reached the top floor of the hostel building. “Each they enter, a grenade blast is heard,” they said.
