SRINAGAR: The District Level Implementation Committee (DLIC) on Mission Youth schemes, chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, approved 34 cases during a meeting convened on Monday to review the execution of initiatives like Mumkin, Tejaswini, and the Spurring Entrepreneurship Initiative (SEI).
The approved cases include 16 under the SEI scheme, 14 under the Mumkin scheme, and 4 under the Tejaswini scheme, all aimed at providing self-employment opportunities to aspiring entrepreneurs.
Dr Bhat highlighted the significance of these schemes in fostering youth empowerment within Srinagar and urged stakeholders to promote them widely to ensure more unemployed youth benefit from these opportunities. He emphasised creating an environment where young people can pursue self-employment beyond traditional government jobs.
Expressing concern over the rejection of approved cases by certain banks, the DC urged financial institutions in the district to adopt a more supportive approach. “Banks must empathise with unemployed youth and guide them toward prosperity and self-sufficiency through these government-sponsored self-employment initiatives tailored to their entrepreneurial aspirations,” he said.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including General Manager DIC Srinagar Hamida Akhter, Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad, ARTO Syed Farhana Asgar, Deputy Director Employment Dr. Sheeba Inayat, District Social Welfare Officer Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, Lead District Manager Srinagar, and representatives from JKEDI and KVIB.
