SRINAGAR: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar and Chairman of the District Red Cross Society, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, handed over a cheque of Rs 2.31 lakh to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Srinagar for providing nutritional support to Tuberculosis (TB) patients under the Nikshay Poshan Yojana. The cheque was handed over at the DC’s office to aid TB patients in their recovery journey.
The Nikshay Poshan Yojana, launched by the Government of India, is aimed at eradicating TB by ensuring comprehensive support to patients, enhancing their nutritional status, and improving treatment outcomes.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Bhat underscored the significance of such initiatives in strengthening the healthcare system and reiterated the administration’s commitment to public health. He urged collaborative efforts from all stakeholders to combat TB and ensure the success of these schemes.
Notably, the District Administration Srinagar has adopted 77 TB patients under the Nikshay Mitra scheme, showcasing its proactive approach in eradicating TB from the district and improving the lives of those affected.
CMO Srinagar, Dr Tahir Sajad, expressed gratitude to the District Administration for its vital support and coordination in facilitating the scheme’s implementation. He highlighted the impact of such contributions in ensuring better health outcomes for TB patients.
The occasion was attended by Chief Planning Officer Srinagar, Medical Officer DTC (HQ) Srinagar, and other officials, reaffirming the district’s collective resolve to eliminate TB and enhance the well-being of its citizens.
