DC Srinagar Reviews Republic Day Preparations, Ensures Readiness for Snow, Rain

   

SRINAGAR: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud Din Bhat, on Thursday conducted a comprehensive on-site review of preparations at Bakshi Stadium for the Republic Day 2025 celebrations, with a focus on ensuring readiness to tackle snow, rain, or waterlogging.

Dr Bhat, accompanied by senior officials from various departments, inspected the stadium’s pavilions, VVIP gallery, and other critical areas to assess the progress of preparatory activities. The review included seating arrangements, cultural programme rehearsals, march past parade preparations, power supply, deployment of medical aid and firefighting systems, and the installation of a public address system.

The DC also examined plans for media management, security arrangements, and entry procedures for VVIPs, VIPs, and participants. He stressed the need for seamless coordination among all departments to ensure a smooth and peaceful conduct of the event.

Special instructions were issued to make necessary arrangements for parade contingents and cultural activities, particularly in the event of snowfall or rain. The DC emphasised the importance of contingency planning to handle any disruptions during rehearsals or the main event.

Dr Bhat was joined by Additional Deputy Commissioners Dr Khalid Hussain Malik and Syed Ahmad Kataria, Joint Director Information Kashmir Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari, Superintendent of Police Shabir Ahmad, and senior officials from R&B, PHE, SMC, MED, PDD, the Cultural Academy, and other line departments.
