At a time when the state cabinet put a blanket ban on re-employment of retired officials, Doordarshan Kendra Kashir (DDK) has gone out of the way and extended services of two program executives who retired recently.
The services of the two program executives, who retired recently from services, were extended much to the dismay of hundreds of Mass Communication pass-outs who despite requisite qualification have failed to find any jobs.
At a time when the unemployment figures in Jammu and Kashmir have crossed six lakh mark, the decision has come as a shock for qualified unemployed youth.
“DDK Srinagar has disappointed us and they time and again come up with strange decisions. Most of the program executives in the DDK don’t possess mass communication degrees but their services are extended even after retirement.
Is there any space in DD Kashir for mass com pass outs of the valley?” asked a mass communication pass out from the University of Kashmir.
The Director DDK Srinagar, Abdul Qayum Wadera said they follow service rules of Prasar Bharati Corporation of India and they have nothing to do with the order of the state government.
“The extension has been ordered by the higher ups in New Delhi. I have no knowledge about it,” Wadera told KNS.
He claimed that DD Kashir is taking initiatives to provide a platform for the budding artists to express their talent and the channel is also improving its content of programmes.
Pertinently, when asked about the allegations of unfair selection of anchors for the flagship morning show of the channel, Good Morning J&K, the Director grew angry. “I do not know about it. Responsible people would have conducted the auditions,” he said.
The Morning show has of late roped in a male anchor for the program who allegedly did not appear in the auditions. “We have never seen him in auditions. It is not just if he would anchor the programs,” said an anchor pleading anonymity.
