SRINAGAR: Residents of Karkroo Mohalla in Nambla area of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district have raised concerns over the quality of drinking water after dead rats were allegedly found inside a water storage tank and supply pipelines serving around 25 to 30 households.
The incident has sparked concern among residents, who questioned the hygiene and safety of the water being supplied to the locality and urged the authorities to take immediate steps to ensure that the water is safe for consumption.
Residents have also sought regular inspection and cleaning of water tanks and pipelines, saying preventive measures are necessary to prevent such incidents from recurring.
Taking note of the complaint, the Assistant Executive Engineer, PHE Uri, said the affected tank had been cleaned and that water supply to the locality would be restored within an hour.
Locals, meanwhile, urged the concerned department to ensure proper sanitation of the entire supply network and conduct periodic checks to safeguard the health of residents. (GNS)
