Death of ‘murder accused’: Police assures family of justice

SRINAGAR

Reiterating that strict punishment will be awarded to ‘guilty’ policemen for their negligence and role in the death of a local man in Kupwara, Deputy Inspector General of Police North Kashmir Range, Garib Das Monday said that police is always at the disposal of Inquiry Officer and will provide every detail to him to ascertain the facts.

Pertinently, a local from Gujjarpati, Zurhama, Nazir Ahmed Mughal who according to police was an accused in a murder case died in mysterious circumstances sparking spontaneous shutdown and violent clashes in the district.

DIG Garib Das told CNS that police have already suspended and arrested three cops including a Chowki Officer.

“No one is above law and one has to pay for his follies. I assure justice to the bereaved family and appeal to them to have patience,” he said.

He added that Inquiry into the incident is going on fast track basis and police is cooperating with the inquiry officer to complete the probe in a transparent manner
