The residents of Shahgund area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district Saturday protested against the administration for “allegedly” denying them flood relief compensation.

The protesters including youths raised slogans against authorities alleging that their houses suffered massive damage due to devastating 2014 floods but so far authorities have not paid them a single penny as compensation.

“The people who bribed the concerned authorities got all the compensation which the administration provided.” alleged the locals. “One affluent of the area got all the cheques as he bribed the concerned authorities,” alleged a local Mohmmad Yousf Dar.

There are around 56 household in the village and only those got the flood relief who are well to do families,” allege another local Ayaz Ahmad Dar.
