SRINAGAR: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Chowdhary on Thursday laid the foundation stone for a 45-metre span motorable bridge over Sadda Nallah in the Sadda area of Block Khawas, Rajouri. The project, estimated to cost Rs 520 lakh, aims to enhance connectivity in the region and is being executed by the Public Works Department (PWD R&B).

Speaking at the foundation ceremony, the Deputy CM emphasised the importance of timely completion and adherence to high-quality standards in the construction of the bridge. The project is expected to significantly improve access for local communities, fostering development and easing transportation challenges.
The event was attended by key officials, including MLA Koteranka Javed Choudhary, DDC member Dhangri Rameshwar Singh, DDC Mougla Shamim Akhter, and ADC Kalakote Mohammad Tanveer, along with senior PWD officials.
Earlier in the day, the Deputy Chief Minister held a public outreach camp in the Sadda area, where he listened to the grievances and demands of local residents. Prominent issues raised included the construction of roads from Soni Gala to Gadyog and Dangiote to Bandigala, as well as the upgradation of High School Sadda to Higher Secondary School.
Surinder Chowdhary assured the public that their concerns would be addressed promptly and reiterated the government’s commitment to developing remote areas. He highlighted the bridge project as a significant step towards bridging developmental gaps in the region.
Residents expressed their gratitude for the government’s initiative, acknowledging the impact the bridge would have on improving connectivity and boosting local infrastructure.
