Minister of State for Animal and Sheep Husbandry (Independent Charge) Nazir Ahmad Gurezi Wednesday paid a surprise visit to Directorate of Animal Husbandry, Kashmir and Directorate of Sheep Husbandry, Kashmir here and ordered suspension of an employee of Sheep Husbandry department.

During inspection, the Minister took stock of availability of drugs, supply and the distribution of the same among the   farmers. He also inquired about the staff strength and assignments. Gurezi issued instructions to head of the departments to ensure that the staff posted in various areas work at their respective place of postings and shall be assigned the job for which they are meant for.

At sheep husbandry directorate, the Minister, while examining the offices files, found some of these lying on the table of an employee for long time. He directed for immediate suspension of the employee for dereliction of duty.

The Minister stressed for punctuality of the employees and warned that any laxity in duty shall not be tolerated. He also called for quick disposal of files adding that any official found resorting to unnecessary delay will be punished. Gurezi impressed upon the employees to work with utmost zeal and said that the dedicated and honest employees will be rewarded by giving special increments.

Gurezi said that animal and sheep husbandry was the backbone of rural economy of the state and there was a need   to strengthen this sector by using modern techniques. He said state has huge consumption of milk, mutton, wool, chicken and egg and efforts shall be made to meet the demand from within the state by promoting cattle, poultry and allied farming in the potential areas. He said if tapped well the huge potential in the sector would revolutionize the rural economy.
