SRINAGAR: Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat on Friday chaired a high-level security review meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir, directing officers to enhance vigilance, strengthen area domination and reinforce the security grid across Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by senior police officers, including the Special Director General of Police (Coordination), Additional Directors General of Police, Inspectors General of Police, Deputy Inspectors General, district Senior Superintendents of Police, commandants of JKAP and IRP battalions, and other officers from across the Union Territory.
According to police, officers presented a detailed assessment of the prevailing security situation, including the operational environment, threat perception and preparedness of field formations.
Reviewing the overall security scenario, Prabhat directed officers to intensify area domination and night domination, particularly in vulnerable and urban areas, to maintain a strong police presence and prevent any attempts to disturb peace.
He also asked officers to strengthen security around vital installations and enhance intelligence gathering through better coordination among police and intelligence agencies.
The DGP directed officers to step up intelligence-led operations to identify and dismantle the remaining militant networks, stressing that close coordination among all stakeholders was essential for a swift operational response to any security challenge.
Emphasising the importance of communication in policing, Prabhat said uninterrupted telecommunication connectivity and resilient communication networks must be ensured across all police formations.
The meeting also reviewed preparedness for weather-related emergencies. The DGP directed officers to maintain constant situational awareness and ensure communication systems and field-level coordination remain fully functional to respond to emergencies arising from adverse weather.
Urging officers to remain vigilant, Prabhat said sustained preparedness, coordinated action and prompt response were essential for maintaining peace and public confidence across Jammu and Kashmir.
