SRINAGAR: The District Administration Kulgam on Tuesday carried out a demolition drive against structures allegedly encroaching upon the notified corridor of National Highway-444 (NH-444), acting on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Shahzad Alam.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Tehsildar Kulgam and the Station House Officer (SHO) Kulgam, with officials from the Revenue Department and Jammu and Kashmir Police participating in the drive.
During the operation, several structures falling within the designated alignment of NH-444 were demolished to clear the encroached area.
Officials said the action formed part of the administration’s efforts to protect public land and facilitate the smooth execution of highway-related works.
The district administration reiterated its commitment to taking strict action against encroachments in accordance with the law to safeguard vital infrastructure projects and public assets. (KNC)
