Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Shailendra Kumar convened a meeting here with the mutton dealers and later fixed Mutton price as 310 per KG.

Divisional commissioner Kashmir told a local news agency, KNS that Government had fixed rate of mutton at Rs 285 per kg for wholesalers and Rs 310 per kg (without offal) for retailers. In case of any complaint of price hike public can contact his office of the telephone numbers 2455357, 2452643.

Asked Kothdars and Butchers to sell the meat at the rate of Rs 310/kg, Kumar warned them that anyone found selling on higher rates would face music under law of land.  “Only those Kothdars who had been issued legitimate licenses can fetch sheep from outside the state themselves or legal action would be initiated against those violating the norms, “he said.

Meanwhile to stop and check the illegal supply of sheep authorities Friday seized six trucks loaded of sheep at Lower Munda illegally being imported into the valley. Later Government official told KNS that it was distributed among the mutton retailers for sale.
