SRINAGAR: Police have recovered a corpse from Nowshehra nulla in Rajouri. It belongs to the driver who had fled from a possible arrest as he was transporting bovine. Police said they have started investigations in the case. The belt wherefrom the body was recovered, falls in Nowshehra police station.

The dead body fished out by Police was identified as that of one Shaheen Nawaz S/o Manawar Hussain Mirza R/o Bathiyian Thanamandi.

“During enquiry it was found that the deceased was a driver- who had fled from a Police Naka while transporting bovine in his vehicle No JK18-2037 (TATA MOBILE) during intervening night of 01/02.06.2017,” the police spokesman said. “A case FIR No. 76/2017 U/s 188 RPC, 3 PCA Act stands registered in the instant bovine smuggling incident.”

The spokesman said that two other co-accused persons namely Tahir Mahmood S/o Mohd Taj R/o Bathiyian Thanamandi and Mohd Sadiq S/o Mohd Khan R/o Bathiyian Thanamandi accompanying the deceased were arrested by police from the same vehicle and are in police custody.

“However, an inquest has been initiated into death of said person. The post mortem of the deceased was got conducted by a board of doctors at SDH Nowshera in presence of Magistrate and his relatives. Prima facie the doctors are of the opinion that the deceased has died of drowning. The dead body has been handed over to the relatives of the deceased for last rites,” the spokesman said.
