SRINAGAR: Police in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have arrested a notorious drug peddler and seized a substantial quantity of contraband from his possession.
A police party from Police Station Ganderbal, conducting naka checking near Wayil Bridge, intercepted Gulzar Ashraf Khan, son of Mohammad Ashraf Khan of Buderkund, Ganderbal. During a personal search, officers recovered a significant quantity of Bhung Patri, a cannabis derivative, which was seized on the spot in accordance with legal formalities.
Khan has been formally arrested and a case (FIR No. 196/2025) under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Ganderbal. Investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the contraband and identify other individuals involved in the supply chain.
Ganderbal Police reiterated their commitment to eradicating drug trafficking in the district and urged the public to cooperate by sharing information on drug-related activities in their areas.
