Baramulla police apprehended a drug peddler and an extortionist from different places in Baramulla district, police said on Wednesday.
As per the the District Police authorities, Baramulla police had received a number of complaints regarding circulation of drugs among the youth of Baramulla Town. Police started surveillance upon the activities of suspicious drug peddlers and on 06.11.2013, police succeeded in apprehending a drug peddler, Fayaz Ahmad Dar @ Ade Deaz son of Abdul Sattar Dar resident Ganie Hamam, Baramulla and recovered about 120 grams of charas from his possession. A case FIR No. 374/2013 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Baramulla and further investigation has been started, reads an official statement.
Meanwhile, in another case, Baramulla Police apprehended Ishfaq Ahmad Beigh @ Seth Jamal son of Abdul Hamid Beigh resident of Fatehpora Baramulla, with a plastic toy pistol that was used by him to intimidate the people for extorting money from them. The arrestee is also a habitual burglar and drug addict. In this regard a case FIR No.372/2013 U/S 171,506 RPC has been registered in Police Station Baramulla and investigation of case is in progress, said the police spokesperson.
