SRINAGAR: Chief Executive Officer of Srinagar Smart City, Owais Ahmad, on Tuesday said that authorities are exploring the possibility of introducing e-bus services in Bandipora, Kupwara, and other parts of north Kashmir.
He said that demand for the service has been high, and revenue generation has been promising due to passengers ensuring proper ticketing.
“We are motivated to expand the service to other districts as well. Recently, there has been significant demand from north Kashmir, particularly Kupwara and Bandipora, and we are hopeful that smart buses will operate in these areas soon,” he said.
He said that the distance to these districts is manageable for e-buses, and if charging infrastructure is required, it can be developed accordingly.
Additionally, he mentioned that under the PM e-Bus Seva scheme, 100 more buses are in the pipeline and currently undergoing the tendering process. “We are hopeful of announcing their rollout date soon,” he added.
Regarding the weather forecast, Ahmad, who also serves as the Commissioner of Srinagar Municipal Corporation, said that all necessary machinery, including dewatering pumps and stations, has been prepared, and the department is fully equipped to tackle any situation. (KNO)
